“Like a modern alchemy, the combination of elements creates a harmonious balance between paint, canvas, details and strokes, thanks to the vital energy of the colors”
Please allow me to introduce myself.
My name is David Ashouri. I was born in Iran and raised there until I was 12 years of age, at which time my family moved to Israel. I am the 12th child and the youngest of Abraham and Pinina Ashouri.
My family was very well respected, and also the oldest family in the community. My father was 60 years old when I was born and my mother was 53. My grandfather was a Rabbi and he lived to 119! My family has long life!
At the tender age of 9, David knew he loved art, a canvas and color, and would somehow find a way to share this passion with others. His father was in the fabric business and at the beginning of each new year, he took David and his 4 brothers to a tailor so that each child would have a new suit for the year. His father would choose the fabric, color and design of the suits for his older brothers, but knew that David would insist on making these selections for himself. He had a creative understanding of color. This was long before he started painting.
I learned so many important values from him, and I’m a better man because of him.
My family had a plastic manufacturing business in Iran although we had moved to Israel because of my father’s illness. I had to learn Hebrew at a very young age, in order to attend school and actually learn. I was an uncle at a very young age and my father would give me money and say, “David, take your nephews and nieces to the movies.” And they were older than me!
By the time I was 18 years old in Iran, I was doing very well financially. I invested in a fully automated machine from Germany and brought it to Iran. This revolutionized our family printing on plastic business. I had driven 5 days from Germany back to Iran with the machine and almost lost my life in Turkey on the way back – but that’s a story for another time!
My business developed, and I moved to New York after the Revolution in 1979.
I am very grateful for the many friends I have all over the world.
For me, life is all about the harmony of peace and love. Without that, I cannot create my art.
These beautiful treasures are for those who appreciate art and love expressing themselves authentically through impressive pieces adorning ones home or work space. For David, creating stunning pieces of art has been a life long passion and a gift he enjoys sharing with all.
I will never forget my homeland. I’m overjoyed to create many unique works of art, many of which capture the colors and memories of my childhood.
I look forward to meeting you and giving you a private viewing of my collection.
David’s creations are simply chic and elegant; a unique addition to any space.
I am David Ashouri – Artist, Father, Husband, Grandfather and Friend to many. I look forward to connecting with you.
